Zhilei Zhang defeated Joe Joyce for the second time at the weekend.

Zhang put Joyce down and out in the third round of their rematch at Wembley Arena on Saturday night to firmly bolster his reputation. Joyce bravery tried to beat the count but the bout was stopped and Joyce is left with a very long road back to the heavyweight top table.

Carl Froch has given his take on a potential showdown between Zhang and the former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua.

Speaking on his YouTube channel , Froch On Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ was confident that ‘the old version of AJ’ beats an ageing Zhang.

He said: “What a great fight. I think that’s a close fight that could go either way. If the old AJ turns up.

The guy who beat Dillian Whyte, climbed off the canvas against Klitschko, beat Joseph Parker, Carlos Takam and looked good putting combination punches together with self-belief. I think that guy beats Zhilei Zhang, because Zhang’s (40) years old.”

But Froch thinks taking on this version of Joshua may be a huge advantage for ‘Big Bang’, he continued:

“Right now, I think that Zhang beats Anthony Joshua … Is that (the old AJ) there anymore? In my opinion no. Tony Bellew always says if Anthony Joshua’s forced to fight – if Deontay Wilder or Zhang comes for him – he will be forced to respond. That could be the case, and that would be interesting.”

How do you see a match-up between Joshua and Zhang going?
