Deontay Wilder has finally broken his silence on the defeat he suffered to Tyson Fury on Saturday night.
Wilder, who lost his WBC heavyweight belt in the second fight between him and Fury, headed into the trilogy bout in hope of restoring his status as heavyweight champion of the world and repairing his reputation.
Unfortunately for the American, he was unable to do so, despite having Fury on the canvas twice in the fourth round. An eleventh round knockout saw the pair’s memorable trilogy end in tears for Wilder.
Wilder was seemingly unwilling to give Fury the necessary credit on the night, understandably so having had his career dented in potentially irreparable fashion, but finally took to social media on Thursday to give credit to The Gypsy King.

Though there didn’t appear to be any love lost between Wilder and Fury throughout their almost three-year feud, the Briton clearly appreciated Wilder eventually paying his respects, revealing his belief that the pair had cemented their place in history.
Whether it will go down as THE best trilogy in the sport’s history is subject to opinion, but based on the quality on display, the complexity of the characters and the drama which unfolded, it’s absolutely up there.
Wilder was not considered a great heavyweight by many prior to his battles with Fury, despite having defended his title TEN times. Even in defeat the man will have earned himself a fair few admirers. He’s hard as nails – and that right hand is frightening.
