Rivals Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) will look to settle their feud when they clash in the ring.

The two fighters meet in the headliner of a card at the Barclays Center in New York City, NY. Golden Boy Promotions are promoting the April 20 event in association with Matchroom Boxing, Haney Promotions and KingRy Promotions. Fight fans can catch the action on DAZN as a PPV.

The bout will see Haney make the first defence of his WBC super lightweight title. Before either man entered the professional ranks, the two fought each other six times as amateurs, going 3-3. This fight serves as a tiebreaker of sorts, a means of getting one over the other. Haney and Garcia spoke at a final press conference Thursday ahead of their clash. Below is a snippet of what they had to say.

Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia Looking to Settle Old Score

Haney

“Alhamdulillah,” said Haney. I want to thank Allah for everything. Without Allah none of this is possible. The time is very close. It’s been a long time coming. The talking is almost done. The antics is almost done. This is not an easy fight but this is a fight that I will make look easy. Do all the antics, do everything. I kept my blinders on and I stayed focus. I have my tunnel vision and on Saturday it will show. All his antics, all the stuff he’s been doing will betray him and it will show, In Sha Allah.”

Garcia

“What do you guys want me to say?“ said Garcia. “I’ve already said everything. What do you want me to do? I’ve already done it all, I’ve said it all, I’ve already done it all and now I’m just ready to kick a--. I’m going there [to] just f--- this man up. You don’t understand. I’m gonna f--- him up. You don’t know what I’ve been training like, you don’t know the vision I have, you do not know I’m on fire.”

Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia Fight Prediction

Haney is the favourite going in, and for good reason. Putting aside Garcia’s behaviour over the last couple of months, “The Dream” is the more accomplished fighter with the better skillset. Haney is much better defensively while also possessing a solid jab. Garcia may be quick and have greater power, but this is a fight Haney should be winning easily. Expect the reigning champion to get the unanimous decision win.
