Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn made weight as we explore how they looked on the scales.

Eubank is considered the slight favorite, although the fight has been evened out by a few factors. Eubank will move down to 160, with a ten-pound rehydration clause. While he has made 160 before, doing so at the age of 35 was not going to be easy. Eubank shared posts from the weigh-in, showing him trying to get the weight off by using sauna suits. However, he missed weight by just 0.05lbs, as he had to pay a fine of £375,000.

Benn moves up from 154 pounds, having boxed his last two bouts at the weight class. However, he never stopped Peter Dobson and Rodolfo Orozco, raising doubts he can do that against Eubank, who has one of the best chins. Things are more personal with Eubank continuously referencing Benn’s failed VADA tests for Clomiphene, while Conor has made a point of Eubank’s poor relationship with his father, Chris Eubank Sr., who will not attend the fight. Benn weighed 154.6 pounds, as he was feeling confident.  Here was the reaction from the weigh-in.

Reaction

“This is the peculiar situation that I find myself in. I have to watch what I eat and drink, or I can eat and drink whatever I want but then I have to get in the sauna tomorrow morning and sweat off 4lb – I still don’t know which one I’m going to do. If they want to look at this as their victory then that’s great for them. All that matters for me is who performs on the night, who puts in on the line and who represents their family name to the best of their ability.”

“It stings that I was 0.05lbs away from the limit and now I’ll have to pay half a million to someone. These are the people you are dealing with. They closed the scales off early. I asked to go and urinate but they said no. These are tactics people use to try and get under your skin, to try and derail you from the task at hand, which is to go out there and win. They had an agenda – they wanted that money,” Eubank said

“I mean, it’s an expensive price to pay, isn’t it? You know, he’s disciplined so he should’ve made the weight. He’s made this weight his whole career, he’s expecting a little bit of sympathy but he ain’t got no sympathy around here. 156 is a weight I feel comfortable at. I’m not a 160 fighter, I’m not a 154 fighter, I’m a 147 fighter. So for me, I’m just going to go in there and use my speed, explosiveness, my ferocity — it’s the way I fight. For me it’s not at 160,” Benn stated
