Floyd Mayweather Jr. is facing a lawsuit over an alleged assault that took place at a Los Angeles-area restaurant nearly two years ago.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, a California man named Eduardo Andres Torres Martinez filed a lawsuit on Tuesday alleging that he was assaulted by one of Mayweather’s bodyguards at the Yard House restaurant outside Crypto.com Arena on Feb. 10, 2022.

Martinez claims in the suit that he was dining at Yard House when Mayweather and his entourage walked in. Martinez says there was such a commotion caused by Mayweather’s arrival that Martinez pulled out his cell phone to begin taking a video.

When Mayweather noticed that Martinez was recording, the former boxing champion supposedly ordered one of his bodyguards to take care of the situation. At that point, Martinez says Mayweather’s bodyguard struck him and caused him to fall to the ground. The bodyguard then allegedly wrestled with Martinez to get the phone.

Martinez claims he suffered injuries during the incident that still require treatment. He also says he has been dealing with emotional distress and mental suffering.

Martinez filed a battery report in 2022 right after the alleged incident took place. A witness contradicted Martinez’s account and no charges were filed, according to TMZ.

Mayweather has denied that any incident occurred and said he was only at Yard House briefly before leaving because it was too crowded.
