Heavyweight contender Joe Joyce has already set his sights on a world title fight, ahead of his bout with Carlos Takam on September 25th, reports Sky Sports.

Joyce and Takam will be going toe-to-toe in the ring on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s title defence against Oleksandr Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Juggernaut will be looking to make a statement in North London in order to throw his hat in the ring for a shot at winning a world title later down the line.

Defeating Daniel Dubois last time out was a major forward stride for Joyce, 12-0, and he’ll be looking to build on that momentum on September 25th.

He’s quoted by Sky Sports saying:

“I’ve got a big test in Takam so I won’t look too far ahead because this is a tough fight.”

“I need to beat Takam up to make a statement so I can go on to win a world title.”

“Takam gives it his all and he’s a hard fight. It might take a few rounds, it might take all the rounds, but I will get the job done then cruise on to a world title.”

We imagine, or rather hope, that the winners of Joshua v Usyk and Tyson Fury v Deontay Wilder, will be fighting to unify the heavyweight division.

After that fight takes place, Joyce ought to be towards the front of the queue for a world title shot – albeit, a little behind compatriot Dillian Whyte, who has waiting long enough.
