Kenshiro Teraji (23-1, 14 KOs) has revealed his next fight will be at flyweight as reported by Dan Rafael in his substack. The Japanese star is the unified junior flyweight champion but will be vacating his 108-pound titles. “The Amazing Boy” has vacated the WBA strap as revealed by WBA president Gilberto Mendoza and according to Rafael will do the same with the WBC.

Kenshiro Teraji Next Fight Set for Flyweight

Kenshiro Teraji Set for New Challenge

According to Rafael’s report, Teraji looks set to be the next challenger for the WBC flyweight title, which Julio Cesar Martinez vacated two weeks ago to move up to junior bantamweight.

A new challenge for the Kyoto native beckons after becoming unified champion at 108lbs, where he most recently retained his titles in a tough fight against Carlos Canizales, which followed his impressive stoppage win against Hekkie Budler.

Teraji has proven he can dig deep in fights, as he did against Ganigan Lopez in 2017 to win the WBC belt by majority decision. He fought Lopez again a year later, stopping him in the second round. The WBA title was won on November 1, 2022, against Hiroto Kyoguchi, stopping him in round number seven. The win over Kyoguchi was impressive, with a constant flurry of right hands leading to the end of the fight.

Boxing Ability of Teraji

Teraji avenged his only loss – stopping Masamichi Yabuki in the third round of their rematch, winning back his WBC belt. The Japanese star had his troubles during Covid with illness, but on his day, he is a joy to watch. The Kyoto native is a brilliant boxer, with impressive foot movement.

He possesses an impressive jab, making it difficult for his opponents to close the distance. He picks his punches brilliantly, especially when targeting the body. Moving up a weight is a challenging step, but if Teraji handles the step up well, his boxing ability should see him make a splash at flyweight.
