Remember Andy Ruiz Jr, the chubby heavyweight who dethroned Anthony Joshua? You won’t believe what he looks like now.

Cast your minds back to June of 2019, with Ruiz Jr, a late replacement opponent for AJ, winning by stoppage against the unified heavyweight champion of the world.

Fans who were not previously familiar with Ruiz Jr couldn’t believe their eyes. How could a man in no short of athletic, fighting condition beat Anthony chuffing Joshua?

Nevertheless, Ruiz Jr produced the performance of his life and ascended to the very top of the heavyweight division. Albeit, briefly, having lost the rematch.

Ruiz Jr is now looking to get himself but into title contention, with his fight against Luis Ortiz an ideal world for him to remind the world what he’s capable of.

It certainly looks as though the Mexican is taking it seriously, too, having shed the pounds for the fight. He now looks in outstanding shape…

That’s quite the transformation from Ruiz Jr. We’ll have to wait and see if his hard work pays off in the ring.
