Jaime Munguía Wants to Make Canelo Alvarez Engage
Munguía will be coming into the biggest fight of his career, following an impressive stoppage win against John Ryder, who went the distance with Canelo. The unbeaten Tijuana native appears to be entering the fight full of confidence as he looks to dethrone the super middleweight king.
When speaking to Fight Hub, Munguía discussed what he believes is the best way to defeat Canelo: “I do believe I’m pushing, and I’m giving you my word that I’m going to do my best to get him to fight with me.” He continued: “At this point, I don’t really know, but the possibility of a knockout will be there. Whenever you are in the ring, anything can happen.”

Since making his debut on July 13, 2013, Munguía has amassed a 100% professional record, winning all 43 contests. His power is one of his best weapons, as proven in his back-and-forth classic against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, where he scored a decisive twelfth-round knockdown.
His win against Ryder showed a more patient and spiteful side to the undefeated Mexican. He picked his punches impressively and was his usual dangerous self on the front foot, throwing his trademark left hand and hook. He still got tagged in this fight on occasions against the Englishman, but it was a new and improved version of the undefeated Mexican who will need to improve again to cause the upset against his fellow countryman.
