There’s no denying Tyson Fury and his boxing success. Carrying an undefeated record (34-0-1) and overcoming numerous challenges, the “Gypsy King” is atop the boxing world. Foes have fallen to the heavyweight mammoth’s overwhelming power, making him a brute force in boxing.

But let’s put him against boxing’s old-school fighters, with the best heavyweights to ever fight. Whether it’s Sonny Liston or “The Greatest”, there are numerous boxers that could’ve taken down Fury in their era. Here’s a look at three legends who could’ve posed a massive threat to the “Gypsy King” in their heyday.

How Tyson Fury Couldn’t Handle “The Greatest”

The Greatest” (56-5) is known across the world for his agile movements and quick maneuvers. That’s what would’ve made him the perfect adversary to Tyson Fury, for he would’ve worn the British mammoth down.

Aside from some smooth trash-talking, Ali would’ve also taken advantage of the inside, attacking Fury at every turn. The Louisville native was one of the smartest fighters around, taking opponents’ strengths and using them against his foes.

These Fists Are “Smokin'”

Joe Frazier (32-4-1) was another cerebral fighter who would’ve used Fury’s strength against him. However, the Philadelphia native wouldn’t rely on a rope-a-dope style to take down the big fella. Instead, Frazier was well-known for countering and displaying excellent ring discipline and patience.

Another incredible aspect of Frazier’s game was his heavy fists. 27 of his victories came by knockouts, making “Smokin’ Joe” a tough opponent. If Fury gets worn down from Frazier’s fast movements, the fight would’ve favored the former undisputed heavyweight champion. Therefore, he would’ve exploited the “Gypsy King” and his lack of stamina.

Tyson Fury vs. Rocky

The original undefeated champion, Rocky Marciano (49-0) could devastate his opponents with pure power. The former heavyweight champion had a knockout-to-victory percentage of 87.8%, one of the highest in boxing’s history.

If there’s anybody that can go toe-to-toe power-wise with Fury, it’s Marciano. The boxing legend’s durability and stamina made him one of the best, helping him go the distance in numerous fights. If Fury can’t take care of the OG undefeated champion early in the fight, the British fighter would be done.
