This will be Canelo’s first appearance in his home country in 11 years. His last fight in Mexico was on November 26, 2011, where he defeated Kermit Cintron at the Monumental Plaza de los Toros in Mexico City. In his most recent fight, Alvarez became the undisputed super middleweight champion by defeating Gennady Golovkin on September 17, 2022, in Las Vegas. The fighter from Jalisco boasts a record of 58 victories, 39 by knockout, as well as two draws and two losses, with a total of eight world titles in five different weight divisions.

The British fighter has fought in 37 professional bouts throughout his career, with a record of 32 victories (18 by knockout) and five defeats. In November 2022, he became the interim super middleweight champion after defeating Zach Parker.
