Tyson Fury has dismissed the threat posed by unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

With Usyk having dethroned Anthony Joshua back in September, the Ukrainian has to be considered one of the best heavyweights on the planet, even if he’s naturally a cruiserweight.

Usyk will head into his second bout with AJ as the firm favourite, and if he were to retain his belts, it would leave things perfectly poised for him to meet Tyson Fury in the ring.

Fury has the only belt that evades Usyk, the WBC heavyweight title. Whoever was to win, were the pair to meet in the ring, would become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

On paper, it looks like it would be a mouthwatering bout, but Fury does not appear to be remotely intimidated by the threat that Usyk poses.

He told IFL TV: “I’ll take the little cruiserweight guy, show you how to give a little, small man a good hiding. I’ll run him over. He’ll look like he’s been run over by an 18-wheeler, just like Deontay Wilder.”

“I’ll reverse back over him and then run him over again.”

Both Usyk and Fury would have at least one fight between now and any proposed bout between the pair of them. We’ll have to wait and see if they remain on course to unify the division.
