Tyson Fury and Zlatan Ibrahimovic want fans to believe that they are teasing some sort of fight for August 1.
Two-time world heavyweight champion Fury has claimed that he will fight once more in August before his showdown with Anthony Joshua later this year. And his promoter Frank Warren does have an event booked at Dublin’s 3Arena on the date that is mentioned in this social post.
Fury returned to the ring earlier this year at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when he laboured to a relatively comfortable points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov. He has already signed to finally take on Joshua – who competes in July – but wants one more outing before the super-fight.
It is standard fare for Tyson Fury to make bizarre announcements and tease things that don’t come to fruition. However, he always manages to excite fans and has done it again with a photoshoot alongside soccer icon and known fight fan Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The pair posed for pictures next to each other and shared a post with the caption: “BREAKING NEWS! IT’S ON AUGUST 1 DUBLIN Ireland.” They tagged Fury’s account as well as boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh, and added the hashtag “#makingboxinggreatagain”.
There is, indeed, an event planned for August 1 at the 3Arena, which is due to be headlined by local favorite Pierce O’Leary. He defends his IBO super-lightweight world title against Mark Chamberlain, and the event is expected to be another sell-out after his initial outing at the famed venue earlier this year.
