It has become a family affair in Calgary as Stampeders general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson has hired his brother Craig Dickerson to join the coaching staff as a senior consultant.

This would be the second run for Craig with Calgary, as he was part of the coaching staff for seven years. He was part of the staff that helped the Stampeders win the 2008 Grey Cup.

“I am pleased to be working with the Calgary Stampeders in 2024,” Craig Dickenson said in his statement earlier this week. “This is an outstanding organization and football staff and I look forward to helping them succeed.”

Dickenson was a former head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 2019 through last season. He finished his tenure with the Roughriders with a 34-34 overall record, winning one division title.

For 30 years, Dickenson has been a coach in the CFL, NFL and in college in the United States. Other CFL teams he has coached on include the Montreal Alouettes, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Edmonton where he won a Grey Cup in 2015.

“Craig is well connected in both the CFL as well as U.S. football and he will make our staff better,” Dave Dickenson said. “He’ll be a valuable resource in many areas including advance scouting and player personnel. We’re glad to have Craig back with the Red and White.”

The Stampeders kick off the 2024 regular season on June 7 as they take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at home.
