The Montreal Alouettes have been focused on re-signing key players from their Grey Cup championship team early this offseason. Now, their attention has shifted to the front office and coaching staff.
It was announced Wednesday that Alouettes coach Jason Maas and general manager Danny Maciocia inked long-term contracts. Maciocia is locked in for the next four years through 2027, Maas will be in Montreal through at least the 2026 season.
“I am extremely happy to be here for the long haul and to continue our work on a solid foundation,” said Maciocia. “I want to thank our owner Pierre Karl Péladeau and our president Mark Weightman for the opportunity. I like the chemistry within our team and the mentality we have implemented. Knowing that I will continue to work in Montreal with our same pool of players makes me very excited to start the next season.”
Maciocia just completed his third season with the team, and Alouettes have gone 27-23 over that span. He was able to find key players in the CFL Draft, including wide receiver Tyson Philpot who caught the game-winning touchdown in the Grey Cup.
Maas is entering his second season with the team after leading them to a 11-7 record and a Grey Cup victory in 2023 when the Alouettes were projected to be one of the bottom teams in the league. A big part of that was new quarterback Cody Fajardo, who was named Grey Cup MVP after throwing for nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Maciocia and Maas have been able to re-sign 17 players since the offseason began in November.
