Watch: LSU outfielder makes bid for catch of the year

LSU outfielder Tre' Morgan made perhaps the catch of the year in Friday's SEC Tournament game against Texas A&M, wowing the crowd with an unbelievably acrobatic grab in the third inning.

Turned around initially by a deep fly ball off the bat of Texas A&M's Jack Moss, Morgan adjusted, making a remarkable diving catch with only inches to spare. Morgan rose to his feet with a grin ear to ear and shrugged his shoulders in disbelief.

A 6-foot-1 junior, Morgan can play both left field and first base and has a power stroke at the plate. A three-year starter for the Tigers, MLB.com's profile of Morgan categorized him as an elite defender and placed him among the best in the SEC in bat-to-ball skills at the plate.

Morgan should hear his name called in July during this year's MLB Draft in Seattle. Earlier this month, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN ranked Morgan as the 105th-best prospect in this year's draft pool.

In 55 games for LSU this season, Morgan batted .313/.425/.488 with seven home runs and 43 RBI.

The 20-year-old flashed some serious leather on Friday, and in perhaps the not-too-distant future, we might see him laying out to make a similar talked-about grab on a major league field.
