For the first time ever, all four of the Arizona and Arizona State men’s and women’s basketball teams will be playing in the same place on the same day today.

The four teams will all be squaring off against different opponents in the Jerry Colangelo Hall of Fame Classic at Footprint Center.

Here is the schedule for the day:

  • WBB: Arizona State (7-4) vs. Fresno State (7-5) 12 p.m. MST
  • WBB: Arizona (8-3) vs. No. 20 Gonzaga (11-2) 2:30 p.m. MST
  • MBB: Arizona State (6-4) vs. Northwestern (8-2) 6:30 p.m. MST
  • MBB: No. 4 Arizona (8-1) vs. Alabama (6-4) 9 p.m. MST

In a press release when the news was first announced, Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley said: “Arizona State Men’s Basketball is thrilled to be able to compete in the Colangelo Classic. We always enjoy competing in Phoenix where our fans have a chance to support us. Jerry Colangelo has done so much for the game or basketball, so it’s a honor to participate in an event supporting his legacy.”

Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd is also excited for the event:

The team’s have already been getting shots up in the home of the Suns.

This event should bring some excitement to downtown for fans to witness the two rivals playing some quality opponents in a large venue.
