Arkansas Razorbacks news is among the most rabidly consumed online content due to John Calipari’s first year with the program. The long-time Kentucky head coach has plenty of work ahead of him as the entire roster decided to move on from the program after his appointment.

However, the clean slate allows Calipari to build the team how he sees fit. He’s already made moves, tapping into former Kentucky players who left the program after his departure. However, his recruiting drive isn’t stopping at the transfer portal as he’s talking to players he convinced to play for the Wildcats last season to join his team.

John Calipari wants five-star recruit Boogie Fland to play basketball with the Arkansas Razorbacks

The Spun’s Hunter Hodies reported that Calipari is setting up a meeting with Boogie Fland, a five-star recruit who committed to the Wildcats during his final year with the program. He’s trying to gauge his interest in playing for him with a new program that would allow him to showcase his talents:

Fland is the third-best recruit in his home state (New York) and the second-best combo guard in his class, per 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 19 overall recruit in the country, regardless of position.

Calipari is trying to get Fland to flip to Arkansas after the former accepted the Arkansas job after the season. It came after Kentucky lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last three years.

Fland is a terrific guard whose biggest asset is his scoring. According to Adam Finkelstein of 247 Sports, Fland can heat up and make tough shots one after another. The senior from Archbishop Stepinac is ranked 19th in the nation and third in New York, making him a prize prospect for John Calipari and the Razorbacks.

Should Calipari bag the freshman, he’ll be one step closer to building a strong roster that can instantly make noise in the SEC.
