Bronny James gets a five-star ranking following LeBron's Twitter take

Bronny James is LeBron's son, yes, but he's also a pretty darn good basketball player in his own right. In fact, the likes of ESPN, 247Sports, and Rivals all rank him as a four-star recruit.

It is well worth noting though, that one recruiting website, On3, just bumped James' rating up to the much-revered five-star ranking. While the younger James might deserve the honor — On3 certainly thinks he does — the timing of this change is a bit curious.

Just hours before Bronny's new ranking was revealed, his father — the 19-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion — had this to say about his son in relation to some of his counterparts in the NBA.

The league pass James is referring to is NBA League Pass. James is saying that as an 18-year-old, Bronny is already better than some NBA players here and now.

There's nothing wrong with hyping up your kid (all parents do it) and the younger James is undoubtedly a basketball talent.

He's still just a high school kid and that's worth remembering, though, and even On3, which just gave him the five-star, is not sure what type of player he'll be in the future.

"He has largely been projected as a significant role player — and potentially a starter — at the next level, but his NBA future as a legitimate prospect has been in doubt," Joe Tipton wrote in the very same article hyping Bronny as a five-star.

All hype aside, perhaps it's time to cool the jets and give Bronny's game some time to breathe and develop.
