Chris Webber’s somewhat muddled relationship with his alma mater added another chapter on Saturday.

Webber was spotted sitting courtside at Michigan’s NCAA Tournament second-round game against Tennessee on Saturday. TV cameras showed Webber sitting alongside former Fab Five teammate Ray Jackson, both dressed in Michigan gear.

Webber’s relationship with Michigan is still murky nearly 30 years after he last played a game there. His role in a booster scandal led to the school disassociating itself from him, and although that period has ended, the relationship has thawed slowly. Webber has hinted that things may be changing on that front, as former teammate Juwan Howard’s hiring as head coach has seemingly helped things. That said, Webber was still supportive of the basketball team even when he and the university were still formally estranged.

Former teammate Jalen Rose has publicly feuded with Webber, which has complicated any reconciliation. There have been signs that things may be changing on that front as well.
