HOUSTON - Vice President of Athletics, Dr. Kevin Granger, gave an update on Texas Southern's football program status following the release of former head coach Clarence McKinney who led the team since 2018.  "Coach Nichols will manage the day-to-day operations," Dr. Granger told HBCU Legends.  "Yes, all other coaches remain on staff and will continue the recruiting process. The head coach will have the opportunity to decide on staff positions."

Coach Charles Nichols has been the football program's director of football operations for three seasons under Coach McKinney. Before joining TSU, he formerly served as the assistant to head coach Willie Taggert at Florida State University.

Granger did not disclose if his department has scheduled interviews with candidates for the position.
