The Duke Blue Devils‘ dream of winning the 2024 NCAA Tournament came to a screeching (and painful) halt on Sunday, as the No. 4 seed simply could not overcome the powers of DJ Burns and the No. 11 NC State Wolfpack in the Elite Eight round of March Madness.

As if to add insult to injury, Burns ridiculed Duke fans during the game, as he was caught on video going full savage on Blue Devils supporters.

Duke Blue Devils Sent Home By DJ Burns, NC State Wolfpack

The loss to NC State was such a downer for the Blue Devils, especially since it came just after they took down one of the No. 1 seeds in the Big Dance. Duke barged into the Elite Eight round by beating the No. 1 Houston Cougars in the Sweet 16 portion of the tourney last Friday to the tune of a 54-51 score.

But Burns and the Wolfpack proved to be a much more dangerous animal to tame for Duke, which shot just 32.2 percent from the field versus NC State. Meanwhile, Burns walked the talk, powering the Wolfpack with a team-high 29 points to go with four rebounds and three assists plus a couple of blocks in a 76-64 win.

“We never had any rhythm on offense,”  Duke head coach Jon Scheyer stated after the game, per the Associated Press (via ESPN). “They started to score more and our offense, it was probably the most disjointed game that we’ve played all year.”
