Before the infamous court-storming following Saturday's 83-79 loss at unranked Wake Forest (18-9, 10-6 ACC), second-year Duke basketball forward and projected 2024 NBA lottery pick Kyle Filipowski hit the 1,000-point mark for his career by tallying a team-high 17 points for the now-No. 10 Blue Devils (21-6, 12-4 ACC).

He became only the 13th Blue Devil in history to check off that career milestone as a mere sophomore.

In this week's edition of Fast Break with Jon Scheyer on Monday night, the 36-year-old Duke head coach reflected on what the 20-year-old Filipowski, the first recruit to announce a commitment to him as head-coach-in-waiting at the time, has meant to the program:

"Look, Kyle has done a terrific job for us for two years. He's been the No. 1 guy on the scouting report. In addition, he's had almost 80 assists this year. He's the best passing big man in the country. And he scores over 1,000 points.

"This game [against Wake Forest] was no exception. He had 17 [points], eight [rebounds], and five [assists] — just one turnover. He was terrific.

"And I'm happy for him. I'd be happier if he got that and we won. But to get that, it says a lot about the career he's had up to this point."
