Fans turn on Hoosiers in blowout loss to Nebraska

All is not well with the legendary Indiana men’s basketball program.

The Hoosiers got to experience the kind of vitriol usually reserved for visiting teams during an 85-70 loss to Nebraska on Wednesday at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana.

With Indiana behind 51-31 at halftime, Indiana writer Jared Kelly of Peegs and 247Sports posted a video snippet of the home crowd reigning boos down on the Hoosiers as they walked to the locker room.

Nebraska (19-8, 9-7 Big Ten) never trailed against Indiana and continued to make its case for an NCAA Tournament at-large bid behind 20 points from Keisei Tominaga. Indiana (14-12, 6-9 Big Ten) shot 19 percent from beyond the three-point arc, making just 4 of 21 shots, and went 14 of 24 from the free-throw line.

The Hoosiers are in 11th place in the Big Ten and have now lost three straight and four of five games heading into Saturday’s game at Penn State. Indiana made the NCAA Tournament in each of the first two seasons under third-year head coach Mike Woodson but lost in the first round in 2022 and the second round in 2023.

"You have to win at home in the Big Ten," Woodson said in his postgame press conference. "I said that when I first walked through this door. It's always been that way. Figure the road out when you get out there, but you can't lose games at home. Now we lost more games at home this year than in the last two years, and that's kind of frustrating."

At three games under .500 in conference play and just five games left in the regular season, Indiana is also in danger of finishing with a losing record in Big Ten play for the second time in three seasons under Woodson. The Hoosiers went 9-11 in the Big Ten in 2021-22.
