Florida Gators backcourt duo Zyon Pullin and Walter Clayton Jr. picked up All-SEC honors on Monday following the end of the 2023-24 regular season campaign.
Forward Alex Condon, meanwhile, was named to the league’s All-Freshman team.
Pullin earned his way onto the All-SEC first-team following a stellar year orchestrating Florida’s top 20 offensive attack.
The graduate transfer point guard, who moved to Gainesville from UC Riverside to provide stability to the Florida backcourt in Todd Golden’s second year in control, accounted for 15.7 points and five rebounds per contest to bolster the Gators scoring attack. He finished the season with the No. 2 in assist-to-turnover ratio in the country, accounting for 4.38 assists per every turnover.
Pullin’s the only player in the country to compile 15 points, five assists and an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.5 or better this season. Additionally, he joins former Kentucky guard Tyler Ulis (2015-16) as the only SEC athlete to do so since 2000.
His veteran presence helped guide UF to its first 20-plus win season since 2017-18.
Conversely, Clayton graces the All-SEC second team after leading the Gators in scoring on average throughout the year. Posting 17 points per game, the Lake Wales, Fla., native dominated opponents as a shooter, and overall scorer, from the two-guard spot.
He shot 43% from the floor and 35.9% from three while adding 2.7 assists and over one steal per outing.
As a result, Florida has leaned heavily on the backcourt duo since Pullin joined the unit in game four. As a tandem, the newcomers aided UF to produce well beyond preseason expectations, operating at an elite clip to connect on shots and score at will in several clutch-time situations in non-conference and league play.
Their effectiveness positions the Gators as a legitimate threat to make a run beyond the first weekend of March Madness.
Condon also graced the SEC awards list released by the conference on Monday, slotting into the All-Freshman team after accounting for 7.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game during his rookie campaign.
The Perth, Australia, native proved to be a major spark off the bench for Florida throughout the season and has positioned himself to assume a prominent role throughout his remaining tenure in Gainesville.
Following a disheartening end to the regular season — with an uncharacteristic performance in a loss to the then-8-20 (3-14 SEC) Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville — the Gators will retake the hardwood for the second round of the SEC Tournament.
They’ll take on the winner of Wednesday’s No. 11 vs. No. 14 seed game, Georgia vs. Missouri, around 9:30 p.m. ET on Thursday as their quest to run the table toward a postseason conference crown commences.
