Brandon Murray scored 17 points and Qudus Wahab added 14 as Georgetown pulled a 68-62 upset over Butler on Sunday in Indianapolis.

It is the program's first Big East road win since Feb. 27, 2021.

Jay Heath added 12 points and seven boards for the Hoyas (7-21, 2-15 Big East) while Wahab tied for the team lead with eight boards. All eight Hoyas who touched the floor scored at least one point with five players scoring at least seven.

Jayden Taylor once again carried the load for Butler (13-15, 5-12), leading with 21 points on 7-for-15 shooting. Simas Lukosius and Ali Ali each added 11 points and Eric Hunter Jr. scored seven while leading with eight boards. The Bulldogs were without forward Manny Bates due to a shoulder injury.

Georgetown went on an 8-0 run to take a 55-54 lead with 7:31 to go for their first lead since the score was 3-2. From there the game went back and forth, but solid free-throw shooting in the second half (11-for-13) powered the Hoyas.

It was a game of big runs in the first half. Butler dominated the early minutes, going up 14-3 as the Hoyas scored just three points in the first 5:49 of the game.

Georgetown later went on a 12-0 run and brought their deficit to just one. Butler started the game shooting 7-for-11 from the field as a team and then proceeded to miss its next seven shots.

The Bulldogs headed into halftime with a 37-32 lead. Taylor scored 17 of his 21 points in the half and Wahab led the Hoyas with eight. Coming into Sunday, Butler was 12-0 this season when they held the lead at halftime.

Georgetown ended a historic 29-game in-conference losing streak at home on Jan. 24 when they beat DePaul. With the win, the Hoyas evened the all-time series against Butler at 11-11 dating back to 2009.
