Georgia State men's basketball pauses for at least one week due to COVID-19

The men's basketball program of the Georgia State Panthers has postponed two games and is going on pause for at least a week.

Georgia State's back-to-back series against the Troy Trojans scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday was scrapped due to COVID-19 issues impacting the Panthers. According to an official school statement, Georgia State discovered multiple positive coronavirus test results within its Tier 1 group that includes players, coaches, team managers and support staff.

As a result, the Panthers will pause all team activities for a minimum of seven days. Rescheduled dates for the series versus Troy haven't yet been determined.

Per Georgia State's calendar, the team remains set to take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16. While some teams have remained paused for two full weeks due to COVID-19 issues, others returned sooner by following conference-specific guidelines.

Georgia State and Coastal Carolina split a back-to-back series last Friday and Saturday in their first conference games of the season. Both teams sit at 7-2 overall and possess the highest overall winning percentage (.778) among all Sun Belt programs for the campaign.
