Gonzaga assistant coach R-Jay Barsh was well aware of Anton Watson's reputation as a consummate pro in how he approaches each and every Gonzaga Bulldogs game.
Throughout his career Watson has been a "glue guy," a do-it-all utility player who welcomes diving on the floor for loose balls, snatching rebounds, jumping passing lanes and doing all the other little things that don't always show up in the final box score. Without a complaint nor desire to boost his own counting numbers, Watson's been one of the most valuable players to Mark Few's program over the last five seasons.
For Barsh, he noticed Watson's winning attitude from the moment he stepped on campus last summer.
"I was expecting a pro, and that’s what I got,” Barsh said on Gonzaga Nation. "A pro in how he shows up, a pro in how he does his work. He hunts perfectionism, which is something I want him to work on is to not do that, be more aggressive and play the game. But he’s such a guy that plays the right way and as a coach, you love that."
