The Grambling State Tigers are still dancing. The Tigers booked a spot in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament after outlasting the Montana State Bobcats on Wednesday during a First Four encounter. The Tigers needed overtime to get the job done, as they scored an 88-81 victory – the program’s first-ever win in March Madness in its only game in the Big Dance so far in school history.

What a way to do it for Grambling State, whose coach, Donte’ Johnson, also gave the perfect interview shortly after the buzzer sounded.

“Incredible. It’s what March is made of, baby. You gotta find a way to fight, stay in the game, and have that one last run. Hey, listen, we got to get to the room pack up figure it out start off film and just worry about how we can throw The whole house the kitchen, but whatever, the backyard, at Zach Edey.  We just got to figure it out,” Johnson said.

“Coach Painter is one of the best coaches in the country, got but a lot of respect for him. So, hey, we let the chips fall where they may. They ain’t expect us to win this one,” he added.

Grambling State Tigers Is Looking To Pull Off A Miracle Against The Purdue Boilermakers

The Tigers have every reason to celebrate after such a historic win for their program, but it is not about to get any easier for Grambling State as standing in its way to the second round are Edey and the Boilermakers, who can’t wait to get back at it after getting stunned by a No. 16 seed (Fairleigh Dickinson Knight) in the first round of the 2023 edition of March Madness.

Grambling State booked a ticket to the Big Dance by topping the Southwestern Athletic Conference Final and will enter the Purdue game with an overall 21-14 record this season.
