Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing feeling better after coronavirus hospitalization

Basketball Hall of Famer and Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing is feeling better after winning a battle with the coronavirus.

Ewing was hospitalized in May due to COVID-19, but the 57-year-old form Knicks star told John Fanta of the Big East Conference on Thursday that he has since improved.

"I’m doing better," Ewing said in the interview. "I’m still taking it a day at a time. For those folks who are not taking this coronavirus seriously, please do."

Ewing explained that he doesn't know how he caught the virus that sent him to Georgetown University Hospital. He added that his oldest daughters also came down with the coronavirus.

"They lost their taste, sense of smell," he explained. "I had chills, high temperature, shortness of breath. Of course, you feel crappy, you don’t feel yourself. But I’m just happy that I'm better. And I say thank you to all the people at Georgetown University Hospital that took care of me."

As coronavirus cases throughout the country rise with states loosening social-distancing restrictions, Ewing recommends nobody take the virus lightly.

"Be safe," Ewing said. "Don’t take it for granted. Just continue to practice social distancing. Wear your mask. Wash your hands. Do all the things that everyone is telling you to do.

"Even with doing all that, you still might get it,” he said while chuckling.
