New Orleans Pelicans forward Herb Jones scored a career high 35 points, shooting 11-for-21 and set an additional personal record with five buckets from downtown in a comeback 138-131 overtime win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Crimson Tide product also recorded seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and made 8-of-9 free throws. Jones became the second player in NBA history to have at least 30 points, five 3-pointers and three blocks in a game (DeMarcus Cousins).

The Pelicans were down by 17 at halftime, even with Jones scoring 15 points in the first quarter alone. Jones and other starters C.J. McCollum, Brandon Ingram and Trey Murphy III combined for 124 of the New Orleans 138 points.

This was the first game in franchise history where three players scored at least 30 points. New Orleans also had a franchise record of 21 shots made from downtown.

Since his college days, Jones has been known as pure lockdown defender without a heavy offensive arsenal. This season, he's only averaged 9.4 points and less than one 3-point field goal per game.

His defensive presence is one of the reasons New Orleans has a 41-39 record and are in the playoff hunt without star player Zion Williamson. They have likely clinched the Play-In Tournament, but are half a game behind the No. 6 seed Los Angeles Clippers and No. 7 seed Los Angeles Lakers
