How USC can keep Bronny James out of transfer portal

We don't know what Bronny James is going to do now that the head coach who recruited him to USC, Andy Enfield, has left Southern California to coach SMU.

There were rumors that Bronny had entered the transfer portal, and though those rumors make sense, that hasn't yet happened. He could also enter the NBA Draft if he wants to because we know his dad wants to play with him. He could also stay at USC and continue to develop.

Bronny has lots of options, and heck, even said father, the great LeBron James, doesn't know what his son will do.

“At the end of the day, Bronny’s his own man," LeBron said on Tuesday, per "The Athletic". "He has some tough decisions to make, and when he’s ready to make those decisions, he’ll let us all know. But as his family, we’re going to support whatever he does.”

Bronny certainly isn't the phenom that his father was but he's a talented player — talented enough for USC to want to keep him in the fold if he wants to stay. As such, USC's next move here could be vital to keeping Bronny in the fold.

The Trojans have to make a big move, and stealing Eric Musselman from Arkansas would make the most sense.

First of all, Musselman is a known winner. He's gone 111-59 in five seasons with the Razorbacks and has taken them to the NCAA Tournament twice. That includes back-to-back Elite Eight runs in 2021 and 2022.

Having a coach who knows how to get to the tournament and make big runs would go a long way toward helping USC keep Bronny around.

To make things even more intriguing, Musselman himself is a former college hooper. He was a point guard from San Deigo from 1983 to 1987. No, he wasn't great, but he knows a thing or two about playing ball on the West Coast. Also, his first head-coaching stint was at Nevada, where he took the Wolf Pack to the NCAA Tournament three times.
Lastly, Musselman has sent six players to the NBA, which is where Bronny wants to end up. Nine players coached by him are still playing on NBA rosters. Bronny could be the next on that list.

Frankly, Musselman is the perfect coach for USC, and he'd be the perfect coach to help keep Bronny a Trojan.
