Today is "Decision Day" for the Texas Southern University Board of Regents on approving the contract for the next head football coach. A special meeting has been scheduled for 8:00 AM on Dec. 28 to hear, review, and resolve the matter of the proposed four-year, $313,000 annual contract.

The main issue has been, for whom?

The Tigers have been without an actual head coach since Dr. Kevin Granger, VP of Athletics, chose not to renew the contract of former coach Clarence McKinney.

Granger led a search committee to interview candidates like Fred McNair, Chennis Berry, Brett Maxie, Mickey Joseph, Andre Johnson, and others. Many believed it was a mere formality for the board to approve a contract for the committee's top choice, Fred McNair.

A few board members reportedly dissented due to the search process and expressed an interest in Andre Johnson's candidacy.

Will there be board approval for Fred McNair, Andre Johnson, another candidate, or no one?

We shall see.
