Jalen Suggs channeled Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade on Gonzaga game-winner
Jalen Suggs hit the biggest shot of his career on Saturday as he lifted the Gonzaga Bulldogs to a 93-90 win over 11-seed UCLA at the buzzer in overtime.
Coming off an inbounds pass, Suggs dribbled the length of the floor and tossed a shot from near half-court to beat the buzzer.
After the contest, the freshman point guard admitted that he channeled Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and Miami Heat icon Dwayne Wade in his postgame celebration.
"I've always wanted to run up on the table like Kobe and D-Wade and go like that, and that's the first thing I did," Suggs said, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello. "Man, that is something that you practice on your mini-hoop as a kid or in the gym just messing around. And to be able to do that, it's crazy."
Bryant first did the iconic celebration after leading the Lakers to a Game 7 victory over the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals. Wade stood on the scorers' table after hitting a half-court buzzer-beater against the Chicago Bulls during the 2008-09 season.
Suggs finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds and six assists. He'll look to recreate his magical night for the Bulldogs on Monday when Gonzaga takes on Baylor in the national championship game.
