Kansas head coach Bill Self sent a small scare into the college basketball world this week when the school announced he would hold a press conference.
While many speculated that he would step down for health or other reasons, he did just the opposite. Self-announced he plans to coach the Jayhawks next season after his recent health scare, as relayed by Brian Hanni.
Self was admitted to a hospital on March 8. It was reported that he “underwent a standard heart catheterization and had two stents placed for the treatment of blocked arteries.” He did not return to coach the Jayhawks in the Big 12 or NCAA tournaments. Kansas lost to Arkansas in the NCAA without Self on the sideline.
Who know what Kansas could have done with Self on the sideline? What is important is he is getting the treatment he needs and taking care of himself for another run next season.
