Kansas withdraws from Big 12 Tournament due to positive COVID-19 test
The Kansas men's basketball team has withdrawn from the Big 12 Tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test within the program, the conference announced Friday.
The Jayhawks were scheduled to play Texas on Friday night in a Big 12 semifinal game. With Kansas out of the tournament, Texas advances to the Big 12 championship game.
Kansas defeated Oklahoma 69-62 in the Big 12 quarterfinals on Thursday. The Jayhawks are ranked No. 11 in the Associated Press top 25 poll.
It's unclear if the positive COVID-19 test will impact the team's NCAA Tournament eligibility.
Kansas is the third men's basketball program to withdraw from a conference tournament due to the coronavirus. Duke dropped out of the ACC Tournament on Thursday, and Virginia did so on Friday.
