LeBron James gives huge update on son Bronny's basketball future

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James gave a positive health update on his oldest son, Bronny James, during the team's Monday media day.

The USC freshman suffered a cardiac arrest in late July and, according to his father, is working his way back to hopefully play for the Trojans this winter.

The future Hall of Famer also addressed his own playing future, saying he didn't know yet whether the 2023-24 campaign would be his final NBA season.

The elder James has been saying for months, if not years, that he plans to stay in the Association long enough so he can share the court with his 18-year-old son, who will first be draft-eligible in 2024.

The four-time MVP turned heads over the spring when he hinted at potential retirement following the Lakers' four-game sweep in the Western Conference Finals at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. Many analysts were skeptical of the chatter, and the rumors eventually fizzled out. James is now ready for his 21st season.

LeBron finished the team's Game 4 loss to the eventual-champion Nuggets with a game-high 40 points (31 in the first half) and team-high nine assists (against just one turnover), while adding 10 rebounds and shooting an efficient 15-for-25 from the field (including 4-for-7 on three-pointers). He played all but the final seconds of the first half and was on the court for the entire second half but was blocked by Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon as he was driving to the basket attempting to send the game to overtime as time expired.

The 38-year-old James was still one of the best players on the floor in the series defeat, averaging 27.8 points, 10 assists and 9.5 rebounds per contest.
