March Madness is almost over as the NCAA Tournament will soon see the UConn Huskies play the Purdue Boilermakers in the men’s basketball championship round. But for Skip Byaless, the former is going home with the win over the latter.
Over the course of the current season, the Boilermakers made jaws drop everywhere when they defeated the NC State Wolfpack to make the Finals. This achievement comes after years of the program experiencing frustrating losses and disappointing eliminations. Anchored by Zach Edey’s final year of college basketball and with stats of 24.9 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game, Purdue was able to steamroll through the opposition and reach the point where they are now.
The Huskies, on the other hand, are a different beast this season. After winning the championship last year, UConn has dominated for much of this year, as seen in the team’s 11-win streak in a dominant fashion. The team also won by 14 or more points against various opponents since March 15. Also, the Huskies have only trailed on the scoreboard for a total of 28 seconds in four NCAA games this year, showing how insane their current run has been.
UConn enters the final round with a 5-0 record in championship games. While Purdue has a 0-1 record, they have shown all season long that they’re willing to do everything to win on the court.
Skip Bayless’ Reason Why UConn Huskies Will Beat Purdue Boilermakers in NCAA Finals
Apart from criticizing LeBron James to no end, Skip Bayless has also shared his thoughts on the upcoming NCAA Men’s Basketball Finals. In a tweet he posted on X:
“UConn will beat Purdue easily. Edey and Clingan will be a stand-off. But the Huskies have the advantage at every other position — Karaban, Castle, Newton, Spencer. Just too good. Back to back,” Bayless tweeted.
While there’s a point to be made in favor of Bayless’ argument, it’s hard to see how Clingan can stand up to Edey in the championship round. His averages of 13.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game aren’t really that close to Edey’s impact on the court for the Boilermakers.
In any case, everything will be known when the two teams face off soon. The championship game between Purdue and UConn is scheduled on April 09, one day after the South Carolina Gamecocks won a ring against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
