According to reports, Michigan State basketball is “not involved” with Keyshawn Hall despite making his top four on Thursday.

In an interesting turn of events, Michigan State basketball made the top schools list for George Mason wing transfer Keyshawn Hall on Thursday night, just about a week after he was reported as a target of Tom Izzo’s.

Shortly after he was reported as having Michigan State in his top four along with UCF, USC, and Arkansas, Justin Thind of 247Sports said that the Spartans were “not involved” currently.

As you could imagine, that caused plenty of confusion as fans were asking Thind to clarify what that meant since Hall just announced Michigan State was one of his top four schools and he had an interesting explanation that made sense. Basically, MSU coaches did their due diligence and reached out when he hit the portal but like football, not every talk/offer is committable.

That’s not to say that Hall won’t ever be a take for the Spartans, but it seems like Izzo and Michigan State have other priorities ahead of him.

It feels like Frankie Fidler, J’Vonne Hadley, and even Trey Townsend take priority over Hall right now which isn’t a bad thing. Still being in Hall’s top four despite not making a serious push for him just shows how highly players view Michigan State basketball.

Izzo has his work cut out for him this offseason if he wants to continue improving the roster for next year and get back to deep runs in the NCAA Tournament. He vowed to do just that.

And it all starts in the portal.

It’s good to see Michigan State mentioned in these portal recruitments and hopefully Izzo can win one soon (hopefully Fidler this weekend).

For now, though, we can probably cross Hall off the list unless something drastic changes.
