Michigan State basketball has reached out to one of the better transfers on the market, George Mason’s Keyshawn Hall.

After the fanbase heaped criticism on Tom Izzo through the first week of the offseason for not hitting the transfer portal hard, the Michigan State basketball coach has responded with action. On Thursday, two names surfaced as transfers that Izzo had reached out to.

The first was Omaha forward Frankie Fidler who averaged over 20 points per game last season. The Spartans made his top four and he’s visiting next weekend.

The second was George Mason’s Keyshawn Hall.

This news broke late last night and it sent some shockwaves throughout the fanbase, especially because Hall — like Fidler — would be the perfect wing addition for Michigan State. He would allow Jaden Akins to slide into that shooting guard role and provide a scoring punch from the three spot.

This past season, Hall averaged 16.6 points and 8.1 rebounds on 47 percent shooting from the floor. He also shot 36 percent from deep and 84 percent from the line. His improvement from his freshman to his sophomore season was remarkable. As a freshman, he averaged just 5.4 points and 1.6 rebounds on 48 percent shooting, 50 percent from deep, and just 68 percent from the line.

Hall was just a sophomore this past season so that means he’d still have two years of eligibility with Michigan State but this is his second transfer and would be his third school in three years. He started his career at UNLV.

It’s interesting to see Izzo target a player who has already transferred once, but Hall fits that Spartan mold. He’s a tough wing with great size (6-foot-7, 230 pounds) and can create for himself off the dribble. Hall is also a Midwest kid from Cleveland, Ohio.

After having seemingly no transfer options a week ago, Michigan State basketball has now been linked to three wings (J’Vonne Hadley, Fidler, Hall). Let’s hope the Spartans can land one and maybe hit the portal for a transfer center.
