No. 1 Baylor Bears' 21-game win streak snapped by No. 19 Texas Tech

The No. 1 Baylor Bears lost at home to the No. 19 Texas Tech Red Raiders, 65-62, ending the nation's longest win streak and leaving no team in college basketball undefeated.

Baylor started fast Tuesday night, scoring the first nine points of the game and jumping out to a 31-16 lead. But the Bears didn't score at all in the last six minutes of the first half, allowing Texas Tech to cut the lead to five by halftime.

Late in the second half, the Baylor offense again went cold and was held scoreless for four minutes, 57 seconds while Texas Tech went on an 8-0 run to take a 59-52 lead. While the Bears came back in the final seconds and closed the gap to just one point, the Red Raiders never relinquished the lead.

Baylor had a final possession with a chance to tie, but struggled to find a good look before a three-point heave from James Akinjo rimmed out.

The loss is Baylor's first since Oklahoma State eliminated the team in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament in March 2021. The Bears bounced back from that loss to blow through the competition at the 2021 NCAA Tournament and beat Gonzaga, 86-70, in the national championship.
