North Carolina duo makes history while winning top-10 matchup with rival Duke

The one-two punch of Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram made program history while helping lead No. 3 North Carolina to a 93-84 win over rival No. 7 Duke on Saturday night in Chapel Hill.

Bacot and Ingram became the first pair of Tarheels to record 20-point double-doubles in the same game since Vince Carter and Antawn Jamison in 1998.

Ingram recorded a career-high 21 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals in the victory. The junior forward shot 8-of-12 from the field including 5-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, Bacot led all scorers with 25 points, adding 10 boards and five assists. The double-double marked his ninth of the season.

After the game, Bacot confirmed to reporters that his outing against the Blue Devils may have been his best of the year, but not for the reason one might believe.

When asked what was the most gratifying thing about his performance, Bacot responded, "I didn't get in foul trouble."

Behind Bacot, Ingram and a tremendous team effort on the defensive end, the Tar Heels never trailed against Duke. North Carolina led by 10 at the break and by as many as 15 down the stretch. The Tar Heels forced the issue throughout the night, scoring 19 points off 11 Blue Devil turnovers.

The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for Duke, which falls to 16-5 (7-3).

Conversely, the win helped North Carolina bounce back from a tough one-point loss to Georgia Tech on Tuesday. The Tar Heels improved to 18-4 (10-1) on the year.
