North Carolina's Armando Bacot ties NCAA double-double record with huge first half

North Carolina's Armando Bacot only needed the first half to record a double-double during the national championship against Kansas and he joined elite company when he did.

Bacot's 12 points and 10 rebounds at halftime gave him his 31st double-double of the season, tying a record held by Hall of Famer David Robinson.

Bacot sprained his ankle during UNC's 81-77 win against Duke on Saturday and exited the game, but he gingerly returned for the final minutes. While there were questions about his availability against Kansas, UNC coach Hubert Davis assured reporters that Bacot would be ready.

The 6-foot-10 forward didn't look hindered at all when he led the Tar Heels to a 40-25 halftime lead.

Bacot earned All-ACC honors this season and averaged 16.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
