Patrick Ewing in the hospital battling COVID-19

New York Knicks legend, Hall of Famer, and Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing shared via Twitter on Friday that he is currently hospitalized and battling COVID-19:

"I want to share that I have tested positive for COVID-19," the 57-year-old Ewing announced. "This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly.

"I want to encourage everyone to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Now more than ever, I want to thank the healthcare workers and everyone on the front lines. I'll be fine and we will get through this together."

Per the statement, Ewing is the only person linked with the Georgetown basketball program to test positive for the virus.

Georgetown went 49-46 during Ewing's first three seasons as head coach.
