Almost every team plays one nonconference tournament as part of their schedule before beginning conference play. And now we know where the 2024-2025 Penn State Basketball squad is heading.

According to multiple reports, Penn State is playing in the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach. As one of four ‘headliners’, it’s likely the Nittany Lions won’t play any of the other four headlining teams, which are Clemson, San Francisco and our former friend Keith Urgo led Fordham Rams.

Mike Rhoades’ team will look to get off to a fast start and build some momentum behind what promises to be an overhauled roster, in his second season as the Nittany Lions’ head coach. Clemson is by far the biggest ‘get’ for the tournament, coming off an impressive Elite 8 run a year ago. Penn State lost to Clemson two years ago in double overtime. San Francisco finished in the top 70 in KenPom a year ago, losing in the first round of the NIT to Cincinnati. Fordham struggled last year, finishing 13-20 just a year removed from Keith Urgo being named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.

Stay tuned for more information about the 2024-2025 Penn State Basketball schedule.
