Seton Hall will look to snap a two-game losing streak when it hosts Monmouth on Tuesday.

The Pirates fell to 5-4 following a 70-63 loss to Rutgers on Saturday.

Kadary Richmond led Seton Hall with 21 points and nine rebounds while Dre Davis added 12 points for Seton Hall, which never held a lead in the loss.

"I'll tell you the truth, I don't think my guys understood the magnitude of this game," Seton Hall coach Shaheen Holloway said. "I thought they came out and out-toughed us, outcoached us. We all gotta do better, including me."

Al-Amir Dawes shot 3-for-16 but only took one two-pointer. Dawes has struggled with his shooting through nine games.

"When you've got a guy who's a 40 percent career 3-point shooter -- and I thought he had some good shots tonight -- I'm not gonna tell the guy who's shooting 40 percent for his career, 'Don't shoot the basketball,'" Holloway said of Dawes. "As a player, you gotta have a feel for the game too, and when your shot's not going, you gotta do other things."

Monmouth will look for its second straight win when it battles Seton Hall.

The Hawks (5-4) defeated Northern Illinois 74-71 on Saturday in spectacular fashion. Jakari Spence dropped in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to finalize a 19-point comeback victory.

Nikita Konstantynovskyi paced Monmouth with 16 points and nine rebounds.

"Monmouth got a blessing today by hitting the game winner by this guy (Spence)," Monmouth coach King Rice said. "His grandmother passed this week; he hasn't been at practice. He has a heavy heart right now and I swear his grandmother took care of him today.

"I'm happy for him that in this hard time for his family, they get to celebrate an incredible win that their son and grandson hit the final shot."

Xander Rice added 14 points and reached double figures for the eighth time this season.

The Hawks committed 11 turnovers but shot 8-for-19 from 3-point territory.
