Big man Eddie Lampkin Jr. is making another transition in his college basketball career — this time to the Syracuse Orange. The 6-11, 300-pound center decided to take his talents somewhere else — again — just after one season with the Colorado Buffaloes, as he’s now going to the ACC to be part of the Orange, via the transfer portal, as revealed by Lampkin himself (h/t Jeff Goodman).

Syracuse lands Colorado transfer Eddie Lampkin, he announced. The 6-11 big man averaged 10.6 points and 7.0 rebounds this past season. Solid addition for Red Autry and the Orange.

Lampkin started his college career with the TCU Horned Frogs in the 2020-21 season and played with the Big 12 program for a total of three seasons before heading to the Pac-12 to play for the Colorado Buffaloes in the 2023-24 campaign. In his only season with the Buffaloes, Lampkin averaged career-highs of 10.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 37 games (36 starts).

Lampkin helped the Buffaloes reach the 2024 NCAA Tournament where Colorado managed to win two games before falling prey to the Marquette Golden Eagles in the second round.

Eddie Lampkin Jr. Outlook With Syracuse Orange

Coming off a career year with the Buffaloes, Lampkin will look to sustain — or even better — his form with the Syracuse Orange, who seem like a great fit for him.

In the 2023-24 college basketball season, Syracuse ranked just 299th in the nation with only 32.6 rebounds per game and only 324th overall with a mere 69.3 percent defensive rebounds rate.

The Syracuse Orange, in their first season of the post-Jim Boeheim Era, failed to reach the Big Dance  for the third year in a row, with Adrian Autry’s squad going just 20-12 overall and 11-9 in ACC play.
