Teddy Allen scores 37 to lead 12th-seeded New Mexico State past UConn

Teddy Allen put the 12th-seeded New Mexico State Aggies on his back Thursday, leading the team to a 70-63 upset of the fifth-seeded Connecticut Huskies.

Allen finished with 37 points, including the Aggies' last 15 points of the game, to pull away from the Huskies in the final two minutes.

Allen's path to March Madness hero was a winding one with several stops before New Mexico State. He spent his freshman year at West Virginia and redshirted the 2018-19 season after transferring to Wichita State. Allen then went to Western Nebraska Community College before joining the Nebraska Cornhuskers last season. He finally found his way to New Mexico State for the 2021-22 season.

With the win, New Mexico State will advance to play the winner of a Thursday night matchup between fourth-seeded Arkansas and 13th-seeded Vermont.
