Kentucky Wildcats guard Sahvir Wheeler Jordan Prather-USA TODAY Sports

Transfer portal got a massive addition in experienced Kentucky point guard

Sahvir Wheeler has spent the past two seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats after spending his first two with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Wheeler has been all SEC, all the time through his four years as a college point guard, but where he plays as a graduate transfer is currently up in the air. Wheeler is entering the transfer portal, per ESPN, where he'll undoubtedly attract the attention of just about every point guard-needy program in the country.

Splitting time with freshman Cason Wallace—a former 5-star recruit—at point guard, Wheeler averaged 7.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game for Kentucky this past season. That was splitting playing time, mind you, and those are still some noteworthy numbers—especially assist-wise. Wheeler was also shut down in February with an ankle injury.

What he can do as a healthy, full-time starter should be a major point of consideration on the transfer market. He started every game for Kentucky in 2021-22, averaging 10.1 points and 6.9 assists. As a sophomore at Georgia, Wheeler led the SEC in assists with 7.4 per game while averaging 14 points per contest.

Wherever he ends up, he's without a doubt an experienced playmaker who can be a major piece of a March Madness contender. Per Sports Illustrated, the Big 12, and Kansas State in particular, could be a potential landing conference and school.
