UNC won a close one to move on.

North Carolina took on Pittsburgh in the ACC Tournament semi-finals. In what was a physical game, as is usual against the Panthers, the Tar Heels got the win.

Game Story

The first half of this one was very close. Pitt went up by 11 and was winning headed into the half. North Carolina was able to weather the storm and keep the game close.

The second half was much of the same, but similar to the two teams meeting in the regular season, UNC pulled away late. Heroic efforts from RJ Davis and Armando Bacot aided the final result.

In past seasons, Pittsburgh has used its physicality to fluster the Tar Heels. This year was different. North Carolina took every bump and gave it right back. In both games, UNC was tougher and came out on top.

Final: UNC-72 | Pitt- 65

Top Performances

RJ Davis- 25 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Armando Bacot- 19 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks.

EVERYONE: Defensive effort on the ACC’s second-best scorer, Blake Hinson. He was held to 2-12 shooting and just 5 points.

Next Up

Tomorrow, UNC will play in the ACC Championship game. They will take on either NC State, who the Tar Heels swept in the regular season, or Virginia, who they beat in Charlottesville for the first time in over a decade.

ACC Title Game: Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
